The Hound of the Baskervilles is the tale about an aristocratic British family which is terrorized, generation upon generation, by a spectral hound intent on killing all the male heirs. The great detective Sherlock Holmes sends his trusted sidekick Watson to the appropriately eerie countryside to investigate, while he observes in disguise. Together they encounter a line-up of unforgettable local characters. It is the most celebrated Holmes story of all, and it's scary…really really scary. But what makes this adaptation funny…really really funny, is three actors breathlessly playing all 16 characters as they run from scene to scene throwing off and putting on costumes, wigs and beards along the way. The cast features Matthew Huberman, Martin Pasquill, and director/designer Maurice Ouellette. All three appeared in the 2010 much applauded and talked about production of Noises Off. In this production of The Hound of the Baskervilles Matthew Huberman plays a bumbling Dr. Watson, clearly not the brightest firefly on the moor, along with an even dimmer yokel. Martin Pasquill plays Sir Henry Baskervilles, the heir to the Baskervilles fortune and a number of other colorful characters inhabiting the London streets and the moor. Maurice Ouellette plays two husband-and-wife pairs, including the frighteningly attractive flamenco dancer Cecille, a dwarf, and some chap named Sherlock, along with a few other characters who pepper the script.
Technical support for this production is provided by Eileen Frasier, assistant director, Tom Grime, stage manager, Bill Frasier, technical director, and Gary Marshall, lighting director.
Will the hound finally be leashed? Will Sir Henry Baskervilles sit comfortably at his family seat? Will Holmes and Watson escape with all their limbs and lives? The answers can only be found at The Laurel Tree Players' production of The Hound of the Baskervilles. The theater of the Laurel Tree Players boasts relaxed cabaret seating around tables where audience members can order drinks and a variety of tasty snacks.
Perfomances are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 23-25, 2012.  Tickets are now on sale at Holy Family Holy Name School at 91 Summer Street in New Bedford, MA 02740.
